TECHNI ICE™ Maintenance Hints

1. While immersed in water scrunch and release sheet in hands repeatedly until all the air bubbles have been released. (Takes approximately 30 seconds). Leave sheet immersed for a further 20 to 30 minutes

2. You will notice that hydration (swelling) has commenced. On occasion some cells (squares) swell more rapidly than others, In this case rubbing the slower cells (squares) between the fingers will result in faster, more even hydration. This also ensures a long product life and eliminates straining of the outer plastic layer covering the individual cells.

3. Your Techni Ice sheet is now ready to freeze or heat.

FREEZING INSTRUCTIONS

Place or stack your Techni Ice sheets in the freezer. Be sure to dry sheets completely before placing in freezer.

HOW TO MAXIMIZE Techni Ice freezing capabilities

Turn freezer to lowest temperature setting for best results. Techni Ice™ can be frozen to Negative -80 Degrees Celsius, replacing dry ice. The lower the temperature TECHNI ICE™ is frozen to, longer it stays frozen (many people only have their freezers at -1° for ice cubes, etc.).

DO YOU HAVE A FROST-FREE FREEZER (as opposed to traditional refrigerated shelves type freezer)?

When using Techni Ice™ in a frost-free freezer, your sheets may partially dehydrate over a period of time because of the dry humidity created .by 'frost-free freezers. Where frost-free freezers are being used, simply place your Techni Ice™ sheets in a plastic supermarket or garbage bag arid seal the end by folding during the freezing process or whilst storing in the freezer.

HEATING INSTRUCTIONS

Place hydrated sheet in microwave for 1 minute or more for increased heat. This is very useful as a hot pack to transport food or to soothe aching muscles, etc. Caution: Check to make sure sheet is not too hot before placing on body.

HOW MUCH TECHNI ICE™ SHOULD I USE?
Always use a minimum ratio of 1 sheet of TECHNI ICE™ per 7 liters of icebox capacity, i.e. a 45-litre icebox needs a minimum of 7 sheets. The more mass of TECHNI ICE™ the better and the more days it lasts. Remember, Techni Ice™ takes up much less room than Ice, and is lighter.. Techni Ice™ stays frozen 6 times longer than regular ice, a simple test can verify this by freezing a single cell (square) of Techni Ice™ and an ice cube the same size. Once frozen place them on a table in the same ambiance temperature. It will be noted that the Techni Ice™ cube will still be at least partially frozen after six times longer than it took the ice cube to turn to water.

HOW DOES MY TECHNI ICE™ WORK?
Techni Ice™ works on a process of COLD TRANSFER. This means your Techni Ice™ sheets start off FROZEN and eventually transfer this COLDNESS into the perishables requiring refrigeration, eventually leaving the Techni Ice™ sheets defrosted and the perishables in your ice box - ICY COLD and DRY. This means your perishables will stay cold for days even if the Techni Ice™ on the second or third day is going softer as the transfer takes place. The Techni Ice™ sheets transfer its frozen state to your perishables, thus keeping them cold days longer than regular ice with no melting water or liquid residue in your ICEBOX to ruin food.

HOW TO MAKE MY TECHNI ICE™ SHEETS STAY FROZEN LONGER
Turn freezer to lowest temperature setting. The colder the food and drink's are when they are put into your icebox, the longer TECHNI ICE™ will keep them that way. Place at least a few sheets on top of you food, as cold falls.

STORING MY TECHNI ICE™ SHEETS IN AND OUT OF THE FREEZER
When not using your TECHNI ICE™ they can be stored in an open plastic bag (not sealed) in the cupboard or freezer. This will prevent them from de-hydrating. Techni Ice™ is virtually maintenance free but can be re-hydrated in water as per original instructions for a few minutes every six months or so to maintain maximum hydration.

ABSORPTION OF JUICES
When using TECHNI ICE™ in contact with meat, fish or liquids, it is a good idea to place your Techni Ice™ in a plastic bag to prevent the possible absorption of any fluids, as can be the case when there is a lot of blood or fluid present.

SUPER HINT
Say you are going away for a very long period, if you take two ice boxes, you can take full advantage of TECHNI ICE™ commercial performance, by freezing some sheets down to lowest possible temperature and putting them in your spare ice box. Then use a second lot of TECHNI ICE™ sheets in another icebox for immediate use. When the first lot eventually thaw out, the TECHNI ICE™ in the sealed icebox will still be in good condition and ready to continue your trip.
Remember—the more sheets of TECHNI ICE™ you use, the more mass there is, the longer they stay frozen,

USING TECHNI ICE™ IN CAR OR CARAVAN FRIDGES
Got a 12volt or gas car fridge? One or two sheets of TECHNI ICE™ kept in the fridge dramatically reduces battery drain by acting as the ultimate eutectic plate, maintaining lower temperatures thereby limiting thermostat activity.

WHAT A GREAT GIFT IDEA
Remember—because TECHNI ICE™ comes in a dehydrated form it is the ultimate "just add water" gift that can be folded into a Christmas card, saving you a fortune on postage and saving the recipient a fortune on ice!!!

EXTRA BENEFIT
TECHNI ICE™ can also be cut to size, by cutting with scissors in between the cells.
